The Gazi Baba Council is the representative body of the citizens of Gazi Baba.
It is the highest decision-making authority when it comes to its rights and duties.
There are 29 members of the Council who lead regular, irregular and formal meetings. The council sets its own rules which determine the work ethics, actions and acts that refer to the other bodies of Gazi Baba.
In accordance with the Statute of Gazi Baba, the Council has the following responsibilities:
- Adopts the Statute of the municipality and other regulations;
- Adopts the municipal budget and the annual accounts;
- Determines the amount of revenue sources in order to finance the municipality, in accordance with the law;
- Establishes public services within the jurisdiction of the municipality and supervises their work;
- Establishes and appoints a public service board of members;
- Adopts programs and draws up financial plans to fund the public services, established by the municipality;
- Adopts the reports on budget execution and the annual accounts of the municipality;
- Gives permission to perform activities of public interest, in accordance with the law;
- Adopts the reports on the work and annual accounts of the public services, established by the municipality;
- Determines the best way to manage the municipal property;
- Determines the best way to perform financial control of the municipal budget, in accordance with the law;
- Chooses the right person to manage the regional unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the municipality, in accordance with the law;
- Revews and adopts the annual report on public safety and submits it to the minister of interior affairs, as well as to the ombudsman;
- May give recommendations on traffic and public safety to the manager of the regional unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs
- Performs other duties, as determined by law.
